No visit to Cornwall is complete without a traditional Cornish Cream Tea and The Waymarker’s is one of the best.

All our scones are homemade on premises and uniquely shaped in a square to match our square tiered cake stands which we use to display our Cream Tea. This slate cake stand, and the flat slates which we use to serve single scones on, is sourced from Delabole and made by Stevens Cornish Slate Company.

We choose to serve Tregothnan Tea as standard with our cream tea, as a percentage of tea leaf produced on their Cornish Estate is present in each Tregothnan teabag. Making The Waymarker’s Cream Tea’s 100% Cornish. If you prefer coffee we serve Origin Coffee, who roast their beans at the Helston–based roastery and source direct with farmers across the globe.

Our traditional cream tea is served with two scones per person, a ramekin of Rodda’s or Trewithen Dairy clotted cream and a ramekin of Boddington’s Strawberry Jam of Mevagissey. This summer made strawberry jam has lovely chunks of visible strawberries and tastes delicious.

Our Cream Tea menu has multiple traditional Cornish flavours of scone to choose from, and also caters for special dietary needs on request in both savoury choices and a gluten-free sweet scone.

During research into cream teas around Cornwall we found a recipe for traditional ‘Cornish scones’ including cinnamon with dried fruit, which led to the creation of our now popular cinnamon and sultana scone. Our gluten-free sweet scone option is a butternut squash and maple flavour. As not everyone has a sweet tooth there is the savoury option with Sundried Tomato and Cheddar or Gluten Free goat’s cheese or Chive and Walnut which is served with a home-made chutney.

Additionally, our Cream Tea’s can be embellished into a full Afternoon Tea with Tregida Smokehouse Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Sandwiches, made with bread from Prima Bakeries of Scorrier. Or if you really want the full experience our final level of Afternoon Tea decadence includes adding either one of our homemade cakes or a toasted teacake (again from Prima Bakeries) to the sandwiches and scones to make a cream tea to remember. As an added treat every sweet cream tea is decorated with a fresh fruit selection while our savoury cream tea is served with a micro-leaf salad garnish.
