It’s the time of year that we experience the long awaited season that is Spring, and all the joys that come with it, including beautiful flowers coming into blossom, sunny afternoons and of course Easter.
When Easter comes round, we think about cute little Easter bunnies and a fantastic amount of indulgent chocolate in the form of Easters eggs, but what is the true meaning of Easter? The name itself is Pagan, and when used to refer to annual Christian remembrance of Christ’s resurrection, the day is called “Resurrection Sunday”. Easter is known to be the most significant and earliest festival of the Christian Church, taking place between 21 March and 25 April, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox.
Here at the Waymarker, we love to see nature come alive in our peaceful and relaxing corner of Cornwall. Over the Easter Weekend, running from Good Friday to Easter Monday, we are excited to be hosting an Easter trail… what better way to witness the beautiful nature surrounding the Waymarker first hand! Let this activity trail distract your children in the sunshine after all the excitement and Easter chocolate while you sit back and relax with your family, on this special weekend.
For a longer adventure why not explore the beautiful bluebell-led footpaths taking you through small grassland fields and ponds bursting with wildlife. As well as this natural beauty, you will find historical, disused quarry workings that were once a major feature of the area, meaning this trail will show you how both farming and mining existed together.
On Easter Sunday we celebrate as we know best, with a traditional Cornish Sunday Roast, made by talented Head Chef Kevin. Easter is a time for family to come together, and what better way to celebrate than with locally sourced Cornish beef or lamb, Yorkshire Puddings, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and our very own “Faddle”.
If you would like to celebrate Easter with an award winning Cream Tea at the Waymarker, call us on 01326 341323 to book your table, we would be thrilled to have you!
